‘THE WAY OF THE MYSTIC’
Every major religion has mystic teachers: St. John of the Cross, Saint Hildegaard, Rumi, Philo of Alexandria, Guru Rimpoche, St. Ignatius Loyola, and many more. While mysticism is not a religion, it is practiced devotedly in different religions of the world. A mystic is a person who seeks by contemplation and self-surrender to obtain unity with or absorption into the Deity or the absolute, or who believes in the spiritual apprehension of truths that are beyond the intellect.
Mysticism is found within most religious beliefs, meditations, and mystical experiences. The mystical realm of religion is truly mysterious to humankind, which is what makes the study of mysticism a continuous one. Throughout history mystics have sought to understand the greatest mysteries of life, love, God, and the universe. Mysticism is the expression of the human desire to have connection with God/Higher Self/Universe.
We will explore what it means to be a mystic, engage in many different meditation and contemplation exercises to help nurture, and cultivate, our own connections to God.
Have you ever felt a lack of connection to God? Have you been looking for ways to deepen your contemplative practice? Are you seeking ways to enjoy more fellowship? Would you like to discover your own inner wisdom?
If any of these questions resonate with you then consider joining us on this journey!
